Everton are among a whole host of clubs interested in securing Malang Sarr on a free transfer from Nice this summer.
The highly-rated defender is out of contract in June and, according to Le 10 Sport, has made it clear he will not be signing a new deal.
As a result, a plethora of clubs are racing to try and secure the 21-year-old and Everton are among them.
Le 10 explain that the Blues have ‘positioned’ themselves to try and secure his signature this summer, something the website have had confirmed to them by their sources.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti knows Ligue 1 well from his time as Paris Saint-Germain manager and has kept a close eye on the division since he departed from Paris.
As such, Sarr is one who will have caught his eye and could be an ideal capture with the Blues in desperate need of centre back reinforcements this summer.
They’ve been heavily linked with several young, up and coming defenders but all of those carry €20m plus price tags, and Sarr could be the perfect alternative on a free.
With no fee to pay the club would be free to use their resources, which are not unlimited, elsewhere, namely on a new central midfielder.
They are naturally not the only club interested, though, with clubs in Germany and Italy all keen, as well as Newcastle, who have already presented a ‘very juicy offer’ to the 21-year-old.
