Everton have made an effort to sign Ajax star Riechedly Bazoer, reports De Telegraaf.
However, Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have a verbal agreement with the 20-year-old and his brother, Irchandly Bazoer, and will pay Ajax €12m for his services.
De Telegraaf say Ronald Koeman’s Everton and Juventus were ready to put the money on the table, but Bazoer has already agreed a four and a half year contract with Wolfsburg, and is expected to sign for them on January 1, 2017.
Bazoer, who has already made 6 appearances for the Netherlands national team under Danny Blind, has been frustrated at the Eredivisie giants after Peter Bosz didn’t play him too often this season.
Bazoer has been tipped to achieve big things in Netherlands, and interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe isn’t really surprising, despite him failing to get regular playing time at Ajax. With Ronald Koeman being Dutch and having a good knowledge of football in the Netherlands, it’s only natural there’s been Everton interest.
The Dutch midfielder signed for Ajax in 2012 from PSV in a 300,000 deal, and has a contract until 2020.
