Everton have joined the chase for Sevilla’s Gonzalo Montiel, according to multiple claims.

Last season, the right-back was on loan at Nottingham Forest, and featured 19 times in all competitions. They had an option to buy but decided against exercising it.

The 27-year-old has an opportunity to return to the Premier League by joining Everton, according to ABC Sevilla.

Sevilla have to get rid of some players to balance their wage bill. The report says Montiel and Joan Jordán have been identified as the main targets, and it’s easier for them to part ways with the fullback.

PSV Eindhoven have shown interest in signing him on a loan deal with an option to buy. The Argentina international wasn’t keen on joining them and the Dutch club have ended their pursuit.

Nottingham Forest don’t rule out bringing him back, but they aren’t the only English club in the picture.

Sources close to the Copa América winner have told ABC Sevilla that Everton have asked about him. Their title says the Toffees join the bidding for the defender, but within the report it’s only stated that they have made contact.

Journalist Uriel Iugt claims Everton and Borussia Dortmund have joined the chase for the fullback. He adds ‘talks are underway’ for Montiel to leave Sevilla permanently, but the two clubs haven’t tabled formal offers so far.
