Everton have made an approach for São Paulo goalkeeper Lucas Perri, according to reports from the Brazilian media.
Outlet Joven Pan was the first one to bring the news, claiming there’s been a contact from the Toffees.
They point out that Perri has recently renewed his contract with São Paulo, and is currently protected by a release clause of €40m.
However, the Brazilian side know that no one would pay that much for the player, especially after the Coronavirus crisis. So they’d accept to negotiate a smaller amount for his transfer.
Following Joven Pan’s report, outlet Gazeta Esportiva seemed to confirm the news, but they make it clear it’s been only an approach, and say there’s no sign that Everton are making a bid for the player just yet.
Lucas Perri has a short experience in English football, since he had a loan at Crystal Palace in the first semester of 2019. The London side had an option to buy him at the end of the spell, but decided not to do so.
Despite being a regular for Brazil’s youth ranks, the 19-year-old is still São Paulo’s second option for the goalkeeping position, having made only two appearances for the first team so far.
