Manolo Gabbiadini’s future at Napoli is far from being decided. According to a story from Calcio Mercato today, the player’s struggle to start for the club could mean a January departure for him. But only if he wants to.
Everton is once again dragged into the story.
With only two goals in 12 matches, Gabbiadini is having difficulty convincing manager Maurizio Sarri that he deserves more game time. That was not expected for him, as he was even negotiating a new contract during the summer, but it seems his recent form has made the talks go cold.
But Napoli are said to have great respect for the player, and won’t put him on the market unless he wants to leave. A loan, however, would be ruled out, as the club are not interested in letting him go and then come back.
Calcio Mercato mentions a few possible destinations for the player, with Everton and Wolfsburg included. The Toffees were heavily linked with the striker during the summer, but never managed to agree a deal.
Napoli reportedly paid €15m for the player, and don’t want to be left out of pocket. It was reported that during the summer that Everton offered €25m, and given the change in the player’s situation, Napoli would likely snap Ronald Koeman’s hand off if it was offered again.
