On Monday, we covered a piece from Record which said Everton were interested in the Sporting midfield duo Adrien Silva and William Carvalho
They claimed that both the players would be options for Ronald Koeman, who would like to spend something between €20m and €25m on each signing.
We said it shouldn’t be enough to take the midfielders from the Portuguese side, and that’s basically what A Bola are suggesting today.
The newspaper claims that Everton’s arguments to convince Sporting are still to be known, but the only way they could make these negotiations happen easily is by paying something close to their release clauses, which are €45m each.
It’s slightly different with Carvalho, who has an agreement that if Sporting don’t accept bids over €35m, he’s due €5m in compensation.
They also say that Adrien Silva is Everton’s plan b in case they fail to land Axel Witsel from Zenit. William Carvalho would be the third option.
Adrien’s rumour is described as “the opportunity to play in one of the biggest leagues in the world”, as this would be a bigger story in Portugal, since the 27-year-old is considered to be one of Sporting’s best players.
Carvalho’s affair with the Premier League is something really older, and most of the big English clubs have already been linked to the player. He didn’t have a great season in 2015/16 and could have left for a smaller price earlier this summer, but his great Euro 2016 in France ended up changing the scenario.
