The agent of Everton star Lucas Digne has confirmed the defender has suffered an ankle injury in training this week.
Reports in France earlier today stated that the Everton star was set to miss two months of the season after an injury picked up in training meant he would require surgery.
That has since been confirmed by the club, who reported that the Frenchman will undergo surgery on the injury on Monday but failed to confirm the extent of his lay off.
His agent Mikkel Beck has now had his say, writing on Twitter that the player ‘suffered an ankle injury in training this week’.
He, though, provided something of a positive outlook, stating that Digne will ‘come back even stronger’ with the help of his team and Everton.
That should at least provide a modicum of comfort to Blues fans, with it appearing that Digne and Everton are confident he can return to his best in the near future.
Unfortunately I have to confirm that @LucasDigne has suffered an ankle injury in training this week :((( With the help of his team and his club @Everton he will work hard to come back even stronger 👊👊 @PUMA @pumafootball #bestleftbackintheworld #getbacksoon #nosweatnoglory

Of course, that does not help in the meantime, with Digne set to miss a huge chunk of games over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
Given the Toffees only have the untested Niels Nkounkou as back-up, it’s likely to prove a testing period for them and manager Carlo Ancelotti.
