On Wednesday evening, L’Equipe dropped their Kurt Zouma bombshell.

Everton and Manchester United want the player.

The Toffees were said to have made an approach for a loan, whereas their transfer rivals were keen on a permanent transfer.

The French newspaper carries on the claims in their Thursday edition, and explains that Chelsea are against the idea of sending Zouma on a permanent transfer to Mourinho, not wanting to strengthen their rivals.

That would give better chances to Everton’s loan approach, an effort which is reiterated in the newspaper. That’s so long as Chelsea don’t see the Merseyside club are rivals for what they’ll be competing for next season.

A loan exit probably looks the likelier for Zouma right now, and last month there were claims of interest from Newcastle United and Fenerbahce.

Perhaps a move to Rafael Benitez’s club could resurface, especially with Newcastle looking to loan a central defender.

For Everton, Zouma is thought to be a back-up option, but it’s not a bad one to have.
