Everton have shown ‘interest’ in Monaco midfielder Alexandr Golovin, with West Ham already in the picture.
That’s according to Championat, who put the Blues in the picture for the Russian midfielder after reports regarding the Hammers earlier today.
The newspaper explains that West Ham’s interest in the midfielder is not new as they were keen in the winter transfer window last season as well.
Monaco consulted with the player and decided to reject their advances, but they have returned for a second shot. Except, now they are not the only club from England ‘looking closely’ at Golovin.
According to Championat, there is indeed ‘interest’ from Goodison Park, and Golovin could be interested in the move as he ‘really likes’ Everton manager Rafa Benitez.
Everton have already contacted Monaco about a transfer, but the ‘obstacle’ is the price the Ligue 1 side are looking for.
They want €40-50m for the midfielder, whom they see as a ‘key player’ in their team and don’t particularly want to lose.
Golovin thinks otherwise, though, making it clear he is ‘ready to take the next step’ and his time with the club ‘has been completed’.
It seems he’s keen on the idea then, but Everton are yet to make an ‘official offer’ for the player; at the moment there have only been ‘consultations’.
A move to England would be an ‘interesting option’ for him, particularly it seems if Benitez and Everton offer it, but that has not happened as yet.
