Everton are reportedly interested in the Sporting midfield duo Adrien Silva and William Carvalho.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record on Monday, Ronald Koeman’s priority this window is to improve the squad’s midfield, and his eyes are on the Portuguese club.
Just like many other Premier League sides, Everton have already been linked to Carvalho in the past. The newspaper says the interest remains, and the Toffees have now added Adrien to their list.
Both the players are well protected by a €45m release clause and a contract until 2020. In William’s case, he has a clause which says Sporting must accept all bids higher than €35m, otherwise the Portuguese side must pay the player a €5m fee.
Sporting reportedly would be prepared to listen to offers, and could end up doing business in the case the terms please the club and the players. Record doesn’t mention how much they would want for Adrien, but they wouldn’t sell William for less than the €35m.
The article says that Everton haven’t made an approach yet. And despite “investing strongly”, they would like to spend between €20m and €25m on each player.
From what’ve been covering, we reckon it would be very unlikely for either of them to leave for this price. Sporting always make it difficult to sell their young talents, and will certainly try to make big money on this duo, especially after they won Euro 2016 with Portugal.
