Everton are tracking Feyenoord defender Terence Kongolo, according to claims in the Italian media. The Premier League side have already been linked with his compatriot Luciano Narsingh in the past week following the winger’s contract issues with PSV.
TMW have today, in an exclusive, claimed Everton could look to move in on Kongolo as Ronald Koeman looks to bolster his defensive options in the new year. Contact has already been initiated, according to the claim.
Everton may well look to add to Koeman’s defensive options over the next couple of windows, especially with Phil Jagielka turning 35 next summer.
Koeman knows the 22-year-old very well, as it was he who gave the Kongolo his debut in 2012, and the player has since become a key component for Feyenoord. Swiss born Kongolo came through the Feyenoord system, and since Koeman gave his debut he’s played nearly 100 league games for the Dutch side.
His performances earned him a call up to the Netherlands national team, and the youngster was part of Louis van Gaal’s squad during the 2014 World Cup, playing 1 game.
Left footed Kongolo can also be utilised as left back and would provide flexible options for Koeman as he looks to set his defensive strategy.
