On Monday evening, FootMercato in France reported that Everton were keeping an eye on a talented young winger in France named Martin Terrier, and it appears the 19-year-old isn’t the only one their agenda.
Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon, and the same website report Ronald Koeman has also instructed one of his scouts to keep an eye on Saint-Etienne’s young defender Rayan Souici.
The 18-year-old, who has now become an undisputed starter for France’s U19s, is also being tracked by Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester, with the Foxes sending scouts to international games alongside their Merseyside colleagues to track the player’s progress.
Yet to make a first-team appearances for the Ligue 1 side, the centre-back recently signed his first youth contract with the club, with a view to signing a professional one in two years time, and even took part in some of the club’s pre-season friendlies, showing the trust Christophe Galtier has in the youngster.
In fact, Souici was also a part of Saint-Etienne’s match day squad against RSC Anderlecht in the Europa League back in September, making the bench.
Foot Mercato speculate both Everton and Leicester could be looking to offer the young defender a contract for a transfer in the summer.
The fact that both these clubs are interested in the player suggests he could be a Steve Walsh target, and we all know how good his scouting in France has been over the past few years.
