Everton are ‘interested’ in Ajax youngster Anass Salah-Eddine as his contract talks with the Dutch side fail to come to fruition.
That’s according to De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij, who says the Toffees are one of several clubs interested in the 20-year-old.
He reports that the defender’s patience is being ‘put to the test’ by Ajax amid contract negotiations this summer.
His contract with the Dutch giants is set to expire next summer, and if a new deal cannot be agreed upon, he will be able to leave on a free transfer at that point.
That is something Ajax want to avoid and will presumably push for a sale if they can’t find an agreement at some point in this transfer window.
That’s currently not close to happening as their proposal and the player’s counter-proposal are ‘far apart’ at this moment in time.
Thus he could be available, and there are interested parties, with Club Brugge, Feyenoord, FC Twente, and Everton named specifically.
Whether Everton or any of those clubs have been in touch with Ajax or the player isn’t mentioned, just that they’re ‘interested’ in the defender.
We’ll therefore hold back our excitement about this one for the time being, but Anass Salah-Eddine may be one to keep an eye on if those contract negotiations with Ajax continue to falter.
