Everton are following Bas Dost around the European rumour mill. Wherever the Dutchman is mentioned, then so are Everton, and given it’s all presented as coming from original information there may well be something in this.
Just over the past couple of days or so there’s been claims from Portugal and Spanish newspaper Marca that the Toffees are keen on the Sporting striker.
Dost is one of several players expected to leave the Lisbon club this summer after fans attacked the squad at the training centre. Requiring stitches to a wound, said to be caused by a belt buckle being whacked over his head, Dost probably feels he deserves better treatment at a club he’s found the back of the net for impressively.
ABC, just like Marca, report Sevilla interest and throw Everton right in there. AC Milan are also said to be interested, and Newcastle get a mention again, but the Spanish newspaper believe Sevilla and Milan would have an advantage as the others aren’t realistically aiming for Champions League football.
That’s their claim not ours. Don’t shoot.
There’s a chance all the publications are copying each other and not saying so, but there’s also a chance there’s something more concrete in Everton’s interest and Sevilla know about it.
It would certainly be an interesting signing and provide Everton with another top senior striker along with Cenk Tosun.
