Now that the Brazilian media have revealed Everton are scouting Éder Militão from Porto, it’s time for the Portuguese press to react to these claims.
Two major local newspapers, A Bola and Record, have stories about the centre-back today, claiming that it shouldn’t be very easy for the Toffees to get him.
Starting with A Bola, they say that Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been keen on the player, and that’s some heavy competition that Everton should be aware of.
They also recall that when signing for Porto this summer, Éder Militão was protected by a €50m release clause in his contract, which now leaves the club’s board ‘calm’ about this whole situation.

O Jogo points out the importance of the national team in this process.
That’s because Militão would need a work permit to play in England, and so far, he only has one call up for Brazil. That means he needs to keep this form to be able to move to the Premier League.
The newspaper also writes that his representatives have a good relationship with the Toffees, who have already signed two Brazilians in the summer: Richarlison and Bernard.
We’d have to take issue with the work permit claims. Should Everton pay €50m or even half that then Militão would almost certainly qualify via the points system regardless of his national team status.
