Everton have struggled to find the back of the net regularly in the league and have scored 15 goals from 19 matches this season. The poor run sees them sitting in the relegation zone.
The Toffees are working to improve the situation and have less than two weeks left in the winter market to sign a new striker.
Two days ago, we relayed news from Italy that Everton want Marko Arnautović and have made contact through intermediates to bring the Bologna player to Goodison Park.
TuttoMercatoWeb now explain the Merseyside club’s need to sign a striker has seen them identify Arnautović and Udinese’s Beto as targets.
Despite having ‘strong interest’ in the ex-Stoke City man, a deal is difficult to carry out because Bologna are not interested in negotiating the Austrian’s sale. The Premier League side would have shifted their focus to Beto, who is their ‘goal’ for January.
Beto has seven goals and an assist from 19 matches in all competitions this season. He has a contract until 2026 and the Italian club value him around €25m.
Although Udinese aren’t looking to sell their player, TMW state ‘there could be room for manoeuvre’ for Everton, likely to negotiate with the Serie A side for the 24-year-old’s transfer.
It’ll be interesting to see how this case develops in the coming days.
