On Saturday, we covered claims from Diario de Sevilla which stated Sevilla are negotiating to sign Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United.

Sevilla are 16th in La Liga and in a relegation battle, they’ve had repeat dramas on and off the pitch this season. Sporting director Victor Orta has been facing criticism and is under pressure to get things right.

Loan signings in January will be key in that regard. That’s where Hannibal comes in, but Everton are now also hovering for his signature.

Sunday’s ABC Sevilla reports the Toffees want to ‘sabotage’ the Spanish club’s efforts and take Hannibal for themselves. Everton would also want a loan deal from Manchester United, so for the Red Devils both proposals will be similar in structure.

A lot will depend on what the player himself wants, and both the Diario de Sevilla and ABC Sevilla reports insisted Hannibal is tempted by a move to the La Liga side. There’s confidence that’s his choice, but competition from Everton, or any Premier League club, is obviously a worry.

Everton have a limited budget in January, which is the same situation at Sevilla, so both clubs will be looking for good value loans.
