Everton have held the ‘first contacts’ with Aaron Ramsey’s agent about a free transfer from Juventus in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover how the Italian side are determined to get rid of the Welshman, and Everton are ready to provide them with an opportunity to do so.
Ramsey is out of the picture under current Juventus boss Max Allegri, who was tempted by the idea of reviving the former Arsenal man’s career at the club but has since changed his mind.
That is largely down to Ramsey, who has not shown a desire to rewrite his story with the club and turn it into a success.
Thus, a separation between him and Juventus is now the only solution for both parties, with Juventus determined to get his €7m a year wages off the books.
However, an ‘opening is opening’ in the form of Everton, who are ready to make their move for him courtesy of Rafa Benitez.
With Marcel Brands now out of the club, he’s in sole charge of transfers for the time being, and the Toffees have started ‘the first contacts’ with Ramsey’s agent about a move to Goodison Park.
There are ‘margins’ to make the move a reality, and Juventus are willing to play their part to help, with it made clear they are ‘willing’ to let Ramsey leave on a free transfer by terminating his contract and renouncing any potential money from a sale.
They want to do whatever they can to help Everton get a deal over the line as getting rid of Ramsey’s wages is something that ‘satisfies’ those in charge of the club.
What Everton have initially offered Ramsey isn’t made clear, more specifically, whether it’s anywhere near his current wage packet, just that they have held initial talks with his agent.
CM, though, say that there is ‘proof of understanding’ between the two parties, so expect to hear more of this in the coming weeks.
