Yesterday, we covered a report from Brazil which said Everton have made a personal offer for Sporting midfielder Wendel, with Carlo Ancelotti having called the player.
This news has now got to Portugal, where newspaper Record brings a story with a few comments on it.
Firstly they say that ‘according to sources close to the player’, Wendel hasn’t received any kind of official offer so far.
Then the outlet claims that Sporting are actually making a plan so they can hold the 22-year-old for a little longer, ‘resisting’ attempts from other clubs to sign him.
Despite Wendel’s release clause of €60m, Sporting are said to be demanding €30m for the player in the next transfer window.
One of the reasons the Lions would hold him for longer is that he should be taking part in the Olympics for Brazil next year. Record says this is a factor which could make him more valuable.
