Regardless of whether Steven N’Zonzi is happy at Sevilla or not (he currently is under Vincenzo Montella), the rumour sending him to Everton refuses to go away.

Estadio Deportivo are the ones bringing it back up on Wednesday, claiming the Toffees understand they still have a possibility of convincing the French international, which is good news.

The bad news is how they’re going to afford him.

While Sevilla know they won’t get the €40m of his release clause, they still hope they can get a decent amount of money, but even that appears a bit too much for Everton.

The Spanish outlet explain the Toffees ‘could not undertake the incorporation of Walcott, for whom they were willing to offer £20m’, and ‘the Liverpool team are prepared to invest those £20m’, followed by ‘the reversal in situation suffered with Walcott allows them to have the money to pull off a major operation’.

The problem with all this is, the Arsenal forward very recently signed his contract at Goodison Park, and he’s now an Everton player.

This is really, really awkward for Sevilla, Estadio Deportivo and, possibly, Steven N’Zonzi.
