Cast your mind back to the January transfer window, and you’ll remember we covered plenty of reports about Everton and Joshua Zirkzee.
Several reports towards the end of that month indicated that Everton were keen on the Bayern striker as they looked for competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
At one point, it appeared that a deal could be close, with Sky Germany reporting that talks over a loan with €10m purchase option had been discussed.
Ultimately a move didn’t happen as the player elected to join Parma, a decision that proved to be a poor one as he struggled during his time in Italy.
Now, there is no mention of Everton in this report, but various reports in Germany and the Netherlands, and we’re sure England before too long, have claimed the Blues remain keen.
Indeed, those same reports have quoted BILD as saying they contacted Bayern Munich last week, but we can find no evidence of that being the case.
What appears to have happened is people seeing the report on Zirkzee and putting two and two together, given the previous links to Everton.
At this moment in time there is no genuine indication that they remain interested, although there is every chance that could change in the coming weeks.
