Luciano Vietto threw a spanner into Sandro Ramirez’s potential move from Everton to Valencia. With the Atletico Madrid player on much lower wages than Sandro, it was a cheaper deal for Valencia, and given they were only looking for back-up it probably made sense.
There had been an assumption in the Valencia media that Everton would make a loan easy, presumably helping with some of the player’s wages, and it seems when it became clear that wouldn’t happen… the Spanish club quickly looked elsewhere and got a deal done.
It would be a surprise if they now continue to pursue Sandro after signing Vietto.
In recent days, an agent has offered Sandro to Sevilla, showing there’s real effort being made on the Everton transfer. Now, Villarreal have also been brought back into the equation.
Bakambu is off to China, Villarreal need a replacement and Sandro is named by Marca as one of a small number of options.
Crucially for Everton, Villarreal will be getting good money from the Bakambu sale, so there may even be the chance of a permanent transfer.
