Everton will have to pay at least €30m if they wish to sign defender Gabriel Magalhães from Lille this summer.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the Brazilian centre-back for several months, with it believed he is at the top of their list of potential recruits this summer.

They have been seemingly edging closer to a deal for some time, with it widely reported they have an agreement in place with both Lille and the defender but nothing has been finalised.

Various amounts have been mentioned for a transfer, with the last report stating that they had agreed a €22m deal plus bonuses.

That, though, may have been wide of the mark with Goal claiming they’ve been told it will take at least €30m to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.

According to their information, Lille do not intend to give a ‘discount’ on any possible transfer, regardless of the financial implications caused by the Coronavirus outbreak.

They confirm that Everton have been putting a ‘strong focus’ on the defender in recent months and they have been in contact ‘behind the scenes’ after Carlo Ancelotti made it clear he wanted to sign him.

So far, though, no deal has been finalised and it seems Everton will need to ensure they pay Lille’s asking price to get him as he’s also a long time target for Chelsea.

Whether they pay €30m, though, remains to be seen. Marcel Brands has a knack of negotiating clubs down from their asking prices and driving a hard bargain and this situation seems ripe for him to do it once again.
