Today’s Daily Allan to Everton is, as usual, a somewhat complicated affair.
Corriere dello Sport have a big story on Napoli transfers, and as well as being part of that, Allan gets an article all of his own. The newspaper explains that when his transfer to PSG was blocked by Aurelio De Laurentiis, Allan’s dedication to Napoli slipped a little.
He felt let down, and was overtaken by melancholy, but fought back to get to the point that other clubs want to sign him now. Chief among those is Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and Everton are in the ‘front row’ for the signing.
Once again, it’s stated the manager is ‘waiting’ for the midfielder, and the article sounds like something of a goodbye. No fee has been agreed yet, but it’s made clear Everton and Napoli aren’t as far apart on valuation as PSG were with the Serie A club.
The prospect of a double deal, also including Nikola Maksimović, is raised for the second time, having been edged forward by Italian sources on Saturday.
That could potentially be a solution, given there’s some stubbornness at Napoli over Allan’s valuation, yet there doesn’t seem to be the same around the defender, so an overall fee can be spun any way they want it.
Atletico Madrid have been linked, albeit weakly, repeatedly, and there’s a big article in Sunday’s edition of Marca. They state Atletico would be willing to offer ‘close to €40m’.
Such a situation sounds worrying for Everton, however, they also say De Laurentiis wants €70m, which perhaps shows a lack of understanding, given even Napoli’s closest media aren’t throwing around such lofty sums when it comes to Allan.
A worry, yes, but given the amounts claimed, Marca’s article can be questioned.
