We’ve encountered a bit of a confusing situation in Italy on Tuesday, as we’ve seen claims about something in Corriere dello Sport, but we can’t see it in there.
It could just be a page is missing from the online versions (we checked more than one), but a number of Fiorentina based websites were claiming the Italian newspaper had good news for Everton fans regarding Kevin Mirallas.
The Belgian forward was sent on loan to the Serie A side after Marco Silva told him he wouldn’t be part of his plans, and it’s been tough going for him until very recently.
However, the past couple of games have seen Stefano Pioli put more trust in the veteran, and he’s paid him back with two goals in two games, which has been well received in Florence.
In fact, Corriere dello Sport are reportedly stating, relayed by ViolaNews, that Mirallas ‘wants to continue to convince’ the club he is worthy of them triggering his release clause, which stands at €8m.
Already agreeing a four-year contract with the Italian side should they make the move, the Belgian’s future truly is in the balance here, and he’s currently doing the right things to ensure he stays in Italy.
That could all change, as there’s a long way to go, but he’s finally made the first-team as a starter, and it seems he intends to stay there.
