As you well know, Gerard Deulofeu’s loan from Everton to AC Milan is going rather well.

The 22-year-old Spanish winger was pushed to one side by Ronald Koeman during the first half of the season, and was allowed to look elsewhere in January in order to find regular football and recapture the form that earned him a move to Goodison Park in the first place.

Settling in straight away in Serie A, Deulofeu has since earned himself a return to the Spain squad, which he grasped with both hands by scoring against France in a friendly as well as earning his country a penalty.

This new form has also rekindled rumours of Barcelona triggering the buy-back clause in his contract with Everton, which stands at €12m.

However, other clubs have started sniffing around, and Il Mattino on Thursday explain that Napoli are now monitoring the Spain international’s situation, and have already ‘very seriously enquired’ about a possible transfer in the summer.

If Everton decide to sell Deulofeu in the summer, Barcelona have first priority on his services, yet were the La Liga champions to pass up on the option, Milan and Napoli could end up in a bidding war.

Considering how happy the winger is in Serie A right now, it wouldn’t be surprising if he were to push for a move away from Goodison Park in the summer, and if Napoli, a Champions League regular, and Milan, the club he currently is greatly enjoying playing for, start fighting for him, he could have a very difficult choice on his hands.

For Everton, it may be the ideal scenario.
