Everton FC have been following two Benfica youngsters, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today.
The outlet claims Pedro Álvaro and Nuno Tavares have both been chased by the Toffees, who are watching a large number of games from the Eagles’ academy.
Both players are 19 and are still to make their debuts for the first team, so it looks like Marco Silva has been doing a more in depth job to get Portuguese players instead of just looking at established squad members.
Although there’s no info on talks or bids for now, O Jogo writes that Everton could soon be ‘reserving’ these players to take them to England.
It’s claimed the Toffees are more certain about Álvaro, as the centre-back is said to be fast, strong, and can build up play.
Regarding Tavares, who plays at left-back, Marco Silva’s scouts are reportedly impressed with his skills and crosses, but still have some doubts about his defensive game.
After covering Benfica’s transfer news for years, we can assure Everton fans one thing: if the club want the duo, they better move now, because after they debut for the first team, their prices are going to go through the roof.
