Everton have missed out on signing AC Milan youngster Niccolo Zanellato after the 18-year-old committed himself to the Serie A giants. The Premier League side have been linked with the central midfielder in recent months.

TMW have today reported AC Milan have convinced Zanellato to extend his contract with the club until June 2019. The Italian club had become concerned about the attention of other clubs, and especially Everton, which prompted them to tie the player down for another three seasons.

Zanellato is seen as one of the prized jewels in the AC Milan youth system, and has been tipped to be a big part of the future of the San Siro club.

This will come as blow to Everton who were looking to take advantage of Zanellato’s situation at AC Milan. The Merseyside club have watched the youngster on several occasions play for Milan Primavera, and were looking to make an approach for the player.
