Everton interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t been laughed off in Germany. The Premier League club are one of several named by Bild as they state the striker could be looking for a ‘winter escape’ from Borussia Dortmund.
Aubameyang is once again acting like a superstar beyond himself and has this season caused what seems his regular trouble at BVB. He’s also scored 16 goals, which maintains his status, although it may not be as high as he believes it should be.
With Dortmund playing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu this week, Bild say it’s shop window for Aubameyang to show himself, with rumoured interest from the likes of ‘AC Milan, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool’.
Playing against Real Madrid is a chance to impress them all, with the insinuation they’ll be watching.
The 28 year old wants a winter transfer, according to the German newspaper, because he’s fallen out with some of the dressing room. His latest club ban came after inviting a Red Bull marketing team to the club’s training ground, without asking permission, and it’s certainly not the first time the striker has acted like he’s above the rest of the squad.
If it wasn’t for the ego, then Aubameyang would have probably moved by now, his goals in recent years dictate that, but he likely sees other reasons for no clubs coming in seriously enough.
Everton isn’t quite the destination the player would dream of, and there’s still an outside aim to impress Real Madrid, but time is slipping away. Of course, it’s very unlikely Aubameyang will end up at Goodison Park this winter, but it’s perhaps noteworthy that Bild haven’t laughed off Everton links as ridiculous.
Turning 29 in June, Aubameyang still has chances to sign for one of the very best, but with each fresh show of ego and immaturity, those chances slightly decrease… and links like the Everton one are slightly more believable.
