Everton are reportedly starting to prepare themselves in case Romelu Lukaku really leaves the club at the end of the season.

Given that Lukaku has made it clear a renewal isn’t as imminent as it was thought to be, transfer talk is inevitable.

Tutto Mercato Web come up with an interesting story today saying Lukaku’s replacement could arrive from Italy. That’s because Everton would be interested in the Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone.

TMW’s article is actually a big ‘if’, saying Everton would go for Simeone if Chelsea sign Romelu Lukaku, which would happen in case Diego Costa leaves for China.

But if the Toffee’s will to sign Simeone is real, that’s an interesting choice. Despite having impressed with 11 goals for Genoa in his debut season, he hasn’t been much linked to Premier League clubs lately.

Also known as the son of the Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, the Serie A player actually has a bit more to show than that. He’s achieved good goal ratios since the youth levels at River Plate, and at just 21 years of age seems to be proving himself in Europe.
