Aston Villa star Jordan Amavi has been linked with a move away from the club since they were relegated to the Championship.

The 22-year-old missed most of last season due to an injury, but has been ever present for Aston Villa this season. Usually when speaking about his Villa future, Amavi has sounded committed and like he wants to see out the season, at least.

Recent reports suggest Marseille are keen on signing the former OGC Nice star. Andoni Zubizarreta has already met Amavi’s representatives twice, but the French defender reportedly wants to continue in England.

According to a latest report on French newspaper La Provence, Everton have recently expressed interest in signing Amavi, who is on the wishlist for several clubs. Everton boss Ronald Koeman will be hoping to add to this squad in January, and may look to bolster his full back options.

For Marseille, La Provence believe Amavi’s wages could be an issue, but the French newspaper expect things to ‘accelerate in the coming days’. Wages wouldn’t an an issue for Everton, and they will feel quite confident given the player has already rejected moves to the Ligue 1 side.

At the moment, Amavi isn’t thinking about his future, and his focus is on Aston Villa, as they fight for promotion.

If Everton’s interest in Amavi is concrete, they surely hold an advantage over Marseille, but we should know more in the coming days.
