With Everton edging forward to completing a deal for Cenk Tosun, the Turkish media believing it’s sure thing the transfer will happen, Besiktas are now facing up to life without their star player.

Besiktas will need to replace the goals Tosun hopes to take to Goodison Park, and Turkey’s NTVSpor report Islam Slimani is the chosen man. The Turkish side are said to have commenced their attempts to sign Slimani from Leicester City, and there’s been contact between the two clubs.

Leicester City would surely prefer a permanent move which sees them recoup a big part of the fee paid to Sporting, but despite Besiktas bringing in around €25m for Tosun, once the Everton deal is complete, the Turkish club would prefer a loan.

With Slimani not getting the game time he needs at Leicester, a transfer looks likely, and Besiktas could be attractive to the player. For Leicester it will depend what other offers arrive during January, and Besiktas may be forced to wait.

Everton themselves have been linked to Slimani, but any interest could be diluted by the Tosun deal.
