The Premier League is having a huge influence on the Argentine national team. The back five which is expected to start against Venezuela tonight will be made up of Sergio Romero, Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, Ramiro Funes Mori and Marcos Rojo.

The Everton defender was asked about it, and revealed that despite the rivalries, the national teammates frequently hang out together in the north west of England.

“We don’t meet daily out there, but we see each other often,” he told ESPN (via La Nación).

“We recently celebrated the birthday of my son Valentin. He was two years old and many of the boys came. It was very nice. We had some herba mate and a ball pool. We had a great time.”

South Americans usually make friendships in European countries, regardless of which club they play for. Brazilians such as Lucas Leiva, Rafael, Fabio and Fernandinho used to see each other often as well.
