Defensa Central, a Real Madrid orientated website, report that sources ‘very close’ to the La Liga club have told them of Everton interest in two Los Blancos players.

Rafa Benitez’s side are said to be ‘crazy’ to get signings in during the January window, and that has seen them turn to Isco and Luka Jovic.

The moves would be straight loans, with Everton said to be willing to cover the salaries of both Madrid players between January and June. For Isco, that would prove difficult, given his contract expires at the end of the season.

Defensa Central believe the 29-year-old would instead be looking for a 3-4 year contract, and that’s surely something Everton wouldn’t be keen on. A move in Spain seems far likelier.

In Jovic’s case, it’s made clear that if he wants regular minutes then he needs to ‘pack his bags’. The 23-year-old has just 31 minutes of La Liga action so far this season, spread out over four appearances.

Even then, signing a centre forward may not be a serious priority for Benitez right now, given it’s not an area Everton are lacking in.

This could all be an intermediary at work, trying to get the idea out there that both players are available.
