It appears that Everton are doing a bit of shopping in South America these days.
First came Frank Fabra, Boca Juniors’ left-back, with whom the Toffees have been linked, and whose agent recently told Sport Witness a move to England could be on the cards should a Premier League come up with the $15m (£10.6m) in his release clause.
Needing to rejuvenate their defence, Everton are also keeping an eye out for potential young centre-backs, and, according to Corriere dello Sport earlier this month (it slipped through our nets), they’ve been looking at Marcos Senesi.
The story was brought to our attention by Peter Coates on Twitter, who relayed the news a couple of days ago.
The San Lorenzo centre-back has attracted a lot of interest recently, helped by the fact he’s looked after by an Italian agency, and the Toffees could face competition from the likes of Inter or Roma should they decide to make a move for the 20-year-old.
It’s just scouting for now, and we’ll have to wait and see if it becomes anything more, but it seems like Everton could be looking at pulling off another Ramiro Funes Mori, just without the injuries.
