Everton are interested in signing Florentino Luís from Benfica, according to the latest reports from Portugal.
The information is brought by O Jogo, and claims the Toffees are ‘considering launching an attack’ to get him on a loan until the end of the season.
It’s claimed that Everton believe they need to reinforce their midfield and they have Florentino ‘referenced’ for a while now.
Benfica are expected to get ‘confronted’ with a ‘market dilemma’ in the ‘next few hours’, and there’s no certainty on whether they’d accept that deal.
Florentino Luís is a product from the Eagles’ youth ranks, having joined the club still in 2010. Since becoming a professional, he also had a couple of loans, at Monaco and Getafe.
The 24-year-old has been having ups and downs this season, with 24 appearances made, and is struggling a little to hold a starting place in the team lately.
The midfielder is currently valued by Transfemarkt at €20m, and protected by a €120m release clause. But those aren’t numbers that Everton should get concerned about now, as they’re apparently trying a temporary deal, at least at first.
Meanwhile, Pedro Sepulveda took to X, formerly Twitter, claiming this is all old news, and the offer from Everton was already rejected ‘more than a week ago’.
