Patrick Lodewijks is set to join Ronald Koeman at Everton, after the Merseyside club bought out the remaining two years of his contract with Feyenoord.
The goalkeeping coach will join Koeman’s back-room staff, and NOS report it’s been a simple case of Everton buying out the contract so Lodewijks can be reunited with Koeman, after the pair worked together at Feyenoord.
The Dutch club have made the news official and Lodewijks has provided some quotes about his time with Feyenoord and his opportunity now to work with Koeman at Everton.
Feyenoord’s official website quotes Lodewijks as saying: “I realise I’m leaving a very good club, but I couldn’t let this opportunity go.
“Ronald called me asking if I would be interested to be goalkeeping coach there.”
Lodewijks explained he couldn’t give up the chance of working in England’s top division, and, after speaking to his family, agreed to make the move.
Koeman will also be working with his brother Erwin, who has followed the manager from Southampton.
