Everton have reportedly ‘reserved’ the signing of Matheus Nunes from Sporting.
According to newspaper Record, the Toffees are working ‘intensely’ on new arrivals for the squad, and the midfielder, who’s one of the priorities, is getting ‘closer’ to the Goodison Park.
The outlet says the Premier League side are proposing a €20m deal, with €18m guaranteed and other €2m in bonuses.
Record claims that with this amount, it’s expected that there could be ‘white smoke in the coming days’, especially because talks have been ‘accelerated’ in the past few hours.
The newspaper explains there’s a partnership between TFM Agency, which takes care of Nunes’ career, and Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute, who are working on Nuno Espírito Santo’s arrival at the Goodison Park.
A deal for the player should only be completed once the manager’s signing is sorted, and that’s also expected to happen this week.
Sporting reportedly see the deal for Nunes as a good opportunity to make money, and the fact they’re already negotiating the arrival of midfielder Manuel Ugarte makes his departure more likely.
Record points out that Newcastle United are also interested in the Brazilian, but at this stage, they’re still far from reaching the numbers offered by Everton.
