Earlier this month, Serbian newspaper Blic reported that Everton are ‘first in the line’ to sign Real Madrid striker Luka Jović.
It was also stated Frank Lampard has been an admirer of the 24-year-old since 2019, as the Toffees manager wanted him at Chelsea.
Everton continue to be named as the Serbia international’s suitor.
The player has found it hard to enjoy regular game time under Carlo Ancelotti’s orders this season, and when given opportunities he has hardly managed to make an impact.
According to Sport, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man has accepted that he would not have a future at the Spanish capital club. Jović is ‘clear that he is not going to succeed’ at the club and ‘would welcome his departure this summer’.
The report further states that Los Blancos frontman could be an option for Bayern Munich to replace Robert Lewandowski, if the Pole decides to leave the Bavarian club. Inter Milan and AC Milan, along with Everton, are also ‘attentive to his situation’ at the Bernabéu.
Despite the Merseyside club and the two Serie A sides still ‘attentive’ of Jović’s case, Sport state the attacker would favour a return to the Bundesliga in the upcoming window.
That claim initially came from Germany, so there may be a better chance for English clubs than is being presented.
Everton, of course, need to secure their Premier League place to have any chance at all.
