Lille defender Gabriel Magalhães has offers from Everton and Arsenal with a move away from the French side looking likely.
The Brazilian defender has become a hot property this summer, with clubs all around Europe thought to be keen on a deal.
Everton have been linked the most and appeared to have won the race earlier this year when he underwent a medical ahead of the move.
However, the Blues have since pulled back on a deal as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and reports yesterday indicated they were now reconsidering whether to match Lille’s €25m asking price.
Arsenal are another Premier League side to have been linked, which is unsurprising given it’s well established that Mikel Arteta wants to overhaul their defence in his first major transfer window.
L’Equipe provide an update on the defender today and say that the 22-year-old has ‘five offers‘ on the table at present.
Two of those are from Everton and Arsenal, although it isn’t made clear what the nature of the bid is. For example, the newspaper don’t say if either club have agreed on a deal with Lille, the player or both.
What they do say is that Napoli are continuing to push for his signature and that he has a ‘two out of three chance’ of joining the Italian side this summer.
Again, they don’t make clear why that’s the case, and it’s also unknown how much he’d be leaving for with them explaining the fee mentioned varies between €22m with bonuses and €25m.
L’Equipe seem convinced, though, that there’s a very high chance he could follow striker Victor Osimhen in joining the Italian side.
That would tally with reports from elsewhere which have indicated Napoli are leading the race for Magalhães’s signature, meaning Everton and Arsenal may need to up their game if they really want him.
