Borja Iglesias is a man of the moment.
The 26 year old is enjoying a great season for Espanyol and it’s a relief after a struggle to impose himself whilst playing for Celta Vigo.
Eleven goals and two assists so far this season have brought him to the attention of other clubs, and there were reports in Spain this week of Everton interest.
The Merseyside club have been linked to several strikers for a January move, and Iglesias is one of those. However, the footballer isn’t keen on moving and Everton were informed of such, leading to them refraining from making an official proposal to the Barcelona club.
Saturday’s edition of AS holds Iglesias aloft as an example of what can be achieved, and explains he shows footballers don’t always need to make their name as youngsters, a longer route to the top of the game is absolutely possible.
And the Espanyol player could be nearly there, with the same newspaper suggesting a call-up from Luis Enrique is quite possible in the near future, the cherry on top of Iglesias rise to the summit.
