On January 26th, SportBild journalist Christian Falk made a surprise claim that Everton ‘want’ to sign Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller.

Müller has less than 18 months left on his contract and during an interview with SportBild, he opened the door for a move away from Bayern.

“No one has ever approached me from the club. So, you have to see what the future will bring. What appeals to me the most is sporting success and football at the highest level. That’s possible at Bayern. Or somewhere else,” he said.

After the attacking midfielder’s latest comments, Bild approached the Bundesliga winners’ chief, Oliver Kahn, for a response.

Kahn said: “Whether that’s Manuel Neuer, whether that’s Robert Lewandowski, whether that’s Thomas Müller. Of course, it goes without saying that we exchange ideas with all these players in order to understand what they are thinking, what they want.”

Müller graduated from the Bavarian club’s academy in 2008, after spending eight years with their youth system. Bayern are of the belief he may not leave the Allianz Arena in the summer.

Bild, however, feel otherwise because of the Toffees’ interest. They explain Everton are ‘already trying to get’ him, likely in the next window.

With Kahn admitting that Bayern are ready to listen to what Müller wants for the future, Lampard’s side can stand a chance to sign the player, if they can manage to convince him for the transfer.
