Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta wants to leave Crystal Palace this summer, and Everton have ‘already registered interest’ in him.

That’s according to BILD, who say the striker is keen to leave Selhurst Park this summer and potentially return to the Bundesliga.

The newspaper explains that the 25-year-old, who has been at Crystal Palace since an initial loan move in January 2022, ‘is not really happy’ at the club and hopes to return to the Bundesliga this summer.

According to their information, the Frenchman has made it clear that he would like to leave the Eagles this summer after manager just six starts and two goals in 29 league games last season.

That is ‘too little playing time’ from his point of view and he would like to go back to Germany, where he impressed with Mainz.

Crystal Palace are happy to let him go and even ‘ready for a loan deal’ to get him off the books but so far there has not been any interest from the Bundesliga. Indeed, former club Mainz have closed the door to a possible deal.

Instead, it is England and Turkey where his suitors lie, with it explained that Everton and Galatasaray have ‘already registered their interest’ in him.

Everton are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, with Neal Maupay expected to depart and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s ongoing injury issues meaning he cannot be relied upon moving forward.

Mateta, if he was available on loan, would fit the bill given their limited finances although at this point it seems they may need to work on convincing him to make the move to Goodison Park.
