Liverpool securing Naby Keita for the next summer transfer window has been a source of excitement for the club’s fans since the deal was announced.

There had been efforts to get a deal through during the January window, just like Liverpool would have rather Keita arrived last summer, but there was no agreement to be found with RB Leipzig.

In Germany it was reported Leipzig wanted an extra €20m if Keita was to move in the winter window, which would have taken the deal to a total value of €95m.

Whilst FSG were initially keen to do the deal, according to the reports, and bring some further shine to a January window which saw the Coutinho saga end, the €20m fee was too big.

Keita has continued to perform for for Leipzig and he’s made Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week.

The 23 year old scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over Augsburg at the weekend, and impressed enough to make the selection.
