Rangers’ interest in the Marítimo midfielder Josip Vukovic is covered by a couple of Portuguese newspapers om Thursday.

Neither of the local outlets know a great deal about the case, as they’re, at least partly, taking the claims from the British media.

However, A Bola still recalls some recent rumours which should be a warning for Steven Gerrard’s club to know the signing won’t be so easy.

They first say Rangers should have some competition from Villarreal, as the Spanish side have already been linked to Vukovic in the past.

Then, they recall some rumours from Foot Mercato which said Benfica and Sporting are both interested in the player.

Record cover the claims and say they expect Rangers scouts to start attending matches, something we can keep an eye on via Portuguese scouting lists.

Marítimo signed Vukovic on a free transfer from Olimpik Donetsk last summer, and as written by A Bola, the midfielder is the ninth most used player in their squad this season.

He has 16 appearances so far, and has been mostly playing as a defensive midfielder.
