Aston Villa coach Steven Gerrard has been labelled as ‘loser of the week’ as the pressure continues to build on him at Villa Park.
BILD given him the dishonourable title in their coverage of the Premier League today, stating that Gerrard is under ‘considerable pressure’ at Aston Villa.
That’s because Villa are currently 16th in the table after just two wins from their first ten games, with six of them being defeats.
That’s left them just a point outside of the relegation zone and with just one win in five, the pressure is mounting.
The situation is considered unacceptable by fans and board alike after a spend of around €460m since 2019 and a big summer that saw Aston Villa back Gerrard with new players on big contracts.
That was supposed to aid their leap into the upper regions of the table, but they have instead been stuck down the bottom and Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea was a continuation of their poor form.
It sees that form has not gone unnoticed in Europe either and Gerrard can add BILD’s loser of the week award to the growing list of unwanted achievements.
