Real Madrid should sign Manchester City striker Julian Álvarez as he is the second coming of legendary forward Alfredo Di Stéfano.
That’s according to Argentine goalkeeping icon Jorge D’Alessandro, who says Real Madrid’s scouts were already impressed by the striker during a trial at the club earlier in his career.
Álvarez has been shining again for Manchester City this season, with three goals and four assists in eight games in the Premier League, and a tally of six goals and five assists in 13 games in all competitions so far.
The youngster has been going from strength to strength and seemingly developing his game too, becoming more of a creator alongside Erling Haaland.
Indeed, he’s been filling in for Kevin De Bruyne amid his injury absence and earning rave reviews as a result, particularly as Haaland goes through something of a dry spell.
There is an argument that the Argentine is actually outshining the Manchester City superstar at this moment in time and D’Alessandro certainly believes that is the case, raving about his compatriot and urging Real Madrid to move for him.
“I recommended Julian Álvarez for both Real Madrid and Barcelona. I think he is overshadowing Haaland. He is totally overshadowing him,” Bernabeu Digital report him saying.
“He spent a month in Madrid. The difference he made playing here was so great that people came to see him from all sides. He passed over his rivals. He faced from the left or the right and went to the area.
“Julian Álvarez is at the same level as Alfredo Di Stéfano: he plays in all spaces, he comes to resist, he recovers…
“The new Di Stéfano is called Julian Álvarez. And if Alfredo Di Stéfano became great it was not at Millonarios, but at Real Madrid.”
