A couple of days ago, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte confirmed Charly Musonda could stay at the club for the rest of the season. If he’d featured against Brentford yesterday, that would make him ineligible to play for a third club this season.
However, the Belgian was left out of the match-day squad, and now could leave on loan. The 20-year-old joined Real Betis at the start of the season, but was recalled after a change in manager and mysterious fitness problems.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan want to sign the Chelsea youngster on loan until the end of the season. The Serie A side, initially, wanted to sign Lucas Ocampos, but have failed in their attempts, and now have switched their attention towards the Chelsea attacker.
AC Milan reportedly want a ‘free loan deal’, and it remains to be seen if Chelsea would be interested in that. Chelsea charge high fees for loans, it’s part of what funds their whole process with young players, and giving a club such as Roma a free deal could hamper future negotiations.
As it stands, Conte is said to be hesitating over the potential loan, and of course the cost negotiations are unlikely to be down to him.
Milan A side have already signed Gerard Deulofeu on loan from Everton, and Gazzetta say Musonda would be a gamble in the same mould. That’s not the best of news for Deulofeu, Milan have no compulsory purchase clause, and if they bring in Musonda too, things could become complicated.
The last thing Everton want is for Deulofeu to be a bit part player at Milan and then return in the summer with a lower value.
