Fotospor report Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal is looking to sign a right-back ahead of the January window and has identified Rangers captain James Tavernier as a target, in what sounds like a very unlikely transfer.

After replacing Erwin Koeman earlier this month, Fotospor say the experienced manager is looking to add full backs to his squad and he’s told the Fenerbahce board to target the Ibrox man.

According to the Turkish media outlet, Fenerbahce scouts are now set to monitor the Rangers player before a decision is made.

The 27 year old has been a key player for Steven Gerrard this season, helping the club to second in the table. However, that isn’t holding Fener back from considering the Rangers man.

Tavernier has previously been linked with a move to Trabzonspor and a move to the Super Lig could still be a possibility for the player.

The Rangers defender is under contracted at Ibrox until June 2022.
