Although Tottenham’s €15m bid for the Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva is considered to be too low, the player would be eager to accept a move, according to the Portuguese press.

The news about Tottenham’s interest was originally broken by the French newspaper L’Equipe, and then echoed in the British and Portuguese papers. We’ve covered the latest claims here.

Now as they comment on the potential bid, Thursday’s edition of O Jogo, in their Sporting section, says that Adrien would be interested in the move.

They describe the player as in a “crucial stage of his career” and add that he wouldn’t look badly at “the chance of signing the contract of his life”.

The 27-year-old is in the peak of his career, having just lifted the Euro 2016 trophy with Portugal and living a great moment with Sporting.

He has a €45m release clause, which gives the Portuguese club a good position to negotiate. It’s perhaps a surprise there’s not been more interest.
